Why people choose Cornerstone

  • "...Tracey is so kind and understanding and makes her patients feel so comfortable..."

"Working with Tracey was SO beneficial, I wish I had started PT while pregnant to be more connected to my pelvic floor. Even though my treatment ended because I moved out of state, I felt confident and well-equipped to continue progressing with strength and have been able to increase my physical activity! Tracey is so kind and understanding and makes her patients feel so comfortable. She helped my husband and I regain intimacy after substantial tearing and muscle strain during childbirth and empowered me with knowledge that will impact me for the rest of my life!"

  • "...She gave me my life back, and I consider her a friend..."

“In 2012 I had prostate cancer surgery. The day I left the hospital, my mom had an accident. I was forced to care for her and the stress of that hindered my healing. My urologist referred me to Tracey LeGrand. I was nervous going into my first visit. After meeting with Tracey for the first 10 minutes, I felt very comfortable as we talked. When I left, I felt comfortable that she could help me. As we got into the therapy, her explanations of the exercises were precise and very easy to understand. I followed her instructions-----both at the office and home. After a few weeks, I started to see improvement. This really motivated me to a new level, and after a few months Tracey released me from her care. I still continue to do my at-home exercises. They not only helped my initial problem, but strengthened my pelvic core, hips, knees, and legs. All the wonderful accolades I had heard about Tracey before I met her weren't enough. She gave me back my life, and I consider her a friend.

  • "...After only four months, I was a new woman!..."

“After being diagnosed with a rectocele, I was so discouraged. My midwife's advice was a hysterectomy with corrective work during the procedure. I was only 35! The alternative was to try physical therapy. The care and treatment I received from Tracey changed my life. She diagnosed the problem with a thorough assessment, and gently worked with me through a plan to restore strength and health. After only four months, I was a new woman! I had control of my pelvic floor for the first time in years. Every symptom I had suffered from before was gone - the constipation, difficulty with bowel control, discomfort during sex, and monthly ovulatory pain were all gone. Less than two years later I had the best pregnancy, labor, delivery, and post partum recovery ever. I only wish I had known sooner that my symptoms weren't normal. Pelvic floor dysfunction is not normal and it's not necessary to live with.”

  • "...Tracey is excellent at helping you feel comfortable while remaining professional..."

“After years of battling pelvic pain and loss of bowel control due to colorectal cancer surgery, I had lost my quality of life. I was forced to stay at home and not go out in public. My surgeon suggested pelvic floor physical therapy. I chose Cornerstone because it had an excellent reputation for success. I'm so glad I did! After just one treatment my rectal muscles started functioning. By the third treatment the pain was gone. Although I am still in treatment, my quality of life is almost back to normal. Tracey is excellent at helping you feel comfortable while remaining professional. Cornerstone gave me my life back. I recommend it highly."

  • "...After less than a year of therapy, I was able to undergo a pap smear... without sedation..."

“I had vaginismus.... I had all the classic symptoms of this condition ... Despite my classic symptoms and several doctor visits, however, I ended up diagnosing myself. No one in the medical community gave me much hope of treatment. They dealt with this more as a psychological issue that I would just have to get past. I suffered years of shame and feeling like a "freak."

Finally, I met a gynecologist who suggested a remedy -- physical therapy. I was skeptical because I thought of physical therapy as being something relative to knee injuries, back injuries, etc. I had never heard of a physical therapist working with someone who exhibited my symptoms. By this point, however, I felt like such a "freak" that I was willing to try almost anything.

After less than a year of therapy, I was able to undergo a pap smear .... without sedation. I give God the credit for healing me of this problem. I believe God works through humans to help meet the needs of others, and I definitely believe that He worked through Tracey LeGrand to heal my vaginismus."

  • "...Thank you for your helpful, professional knowledge and suggestions..."

Thank you for your helpful, professional knowledge and suggestions. Just as important though was your very supportive manner. You always fully addressed my questions and concerns even about difficult to discuss topics. I appreciate that you took the time to teach and discuss relevant issues so that I could have a fuller understanding of my problem and thereby follow your instructions more successfully. Thank you again for all you did for me.”

  • "...After two months of therapy I saw major improvements..."

“After having two children in two years I became physically inactive due to incontinence. I considered surgery to repair my bladder prolapse. My midwife suggested trying PT at Cornerstone. Tracey's work to educate me and rehabilitate my pelvic floor has drastically improved the quality of my life! After two months of therapy I saw major improvements. My third surprise pregnancy at age 40 was a true test to the progress I made. I had the smoothest recovery of all three pregnancies!”

  • "...I can honestly say I don’t know where I would be today without Tracey’s help..."

"In November of 2018 I herniated a disc at L5 and it compressed a nerve. I was not able bear weight on my right leg thus I could not walk for 22 days.  During this timeframe I had an MRI and tried to correct the condition with Physical Therapy.  Nothing worked and in the latter part of December I had surgery to remove a portion of the disc and some spinal stenosis.  I walked out of the hospital the day of the surgery.  All was well for 21 days and recovery was moving at a good pace.

On January 4, 2019 I was lying on the couch and attempted to raise up into a sitting position.  I was taken to the floor with an extreme pain between my groin and inner thigh. It came in 5 second intervals and was excruicating.  It stopped after about 15 minutes, but its affect had only began.  When I tried to sit down in a chair it felt like I was sitting on golf balls and the sitting activated the pain again. The next few weeks were filled with sleepless nights walking the floor, intense pain, another MRI to ensure the surgery had not been mitigated and a lack of understanding.  No one had an answer concerning what had happened and why I was in the new predicament.  This seemed alien to every medical person I encountered. I was mentally frustrated with the lack of medical knowledge on the issue and aggravated with my inability to have a normal life.

But, God sent a blessing when I needed it most.  My daughter had graduated PT school with Tracey at UK.  During a telephone conversation she explained my problem, her concerns about the recovery and my frustration with not finding solutions. Tracey said she thought  she could help me.  We did an interview to determine all the symptoms and she explained her theory on why I was having the issues with pain and sitting.  Everything pointed toward a deep muscle spasm which had trapped the pudental nerve and left it extremely irritated.  In turn the nerve caused the muscles to constrict and knot, thus irritating the nerve.  In essence it was a vicious cycle of which I was the benefactor.

Even though her schedule was full, she made time to treat me on her administrative days and any other opportunity when she was not booked.  She provided sound advice on how to deal with the mental stress of the situation while we worked the physical side of the problem.  Her deep faith in God and his healing power was engrained in her discussions and treatments.  Besides being an excellent therapist, there is a subtle side of her that just makes you know  there is daylight at the end of the dark path.  I had never heard of pelvic floor issues and the types of exercises that were needed to address the problem.  Tracey exhibited extreme patience ensuring I knew how to correctly do everything we discussed and her home exercise plans kept me mentally focused on improvement.  I can honestly say I don’t know where I would be today without Tracey’s help, she was a God sent blessing for me and my family."
